Dynamic contact angle tensiometer measuring surface tension, interfacial tension, wettability, density, and sinking/floating behavior using the Wilhelmy plate and Du Noüy ring methods.
The DataPhysics DCAT Force Tensiometer precisely measures surface tension and interfacial tension of liquids using the Wilhelmy plate and Du Noüy ring methods. It also measures dynamic contact angles, powder wettability (Washburn method), density, and sinking/floating behavior — all in one versatile instrument.
The DataPhysics DCAT series represents the pinnacle of force-based tensiometry. At its core is a highly sensitive microbalance with a resolution of 0.01 µN (0.1 µg), which detects the tiny forces exerted on a Wilhelmy plate or Du Noüy ring immersed in a liquid. From these force signals, the DCAT software calculates surface tension, interfacial tension, dynamic contact angles, and density with exceptional accuracy.
The Washburn capillary penetration method extends the instrument's capability to solid powders, granules, fibers, and porous materials — enabling wettability characterization of substances that cannot be formed into flat surfaces for optical goniometry.
The SCAT software provides a comprehensive measurement environment with full automation capability, supporting programmatic immersion cycles, time-resolved measurements, and direct export to LIMS and ERP systems.
